Turkey Love
Heritage turkeys are rare old birds (haha) that kindly sustainable – raise to keep the breeds going. They have exotic names like the Narragansett and Bourbon Red. They take 24-30 weeks to reach their weight while the White Breasted Tom supermarket turkeys fatten up in about 18 weeks.
The strangest fact about these birds is their, er, habits l’Amour. Modern big breasted birds can only reproduce via artificial insemination, while heritage breeds remember how to do it the old fashioned way.
