8/22- 10/24 Canning Classes

Peaches in the summertime, kimchee in the fall? Slow Food Pittsburgh is offering a series of canning classes which will bring together home cooks wanting to learn, local chefs willing to teach, and local producers who grow and sell the necessary ingredients. There are many reasons to learn this traditional food art, least of which is how sublime those peaches will taste while the snow flies this winter. Click for schedule and info.

8/22 Peaches, Chef Bill Fuller from Big Burrito at McConnell’s Farm, Independence Twp.

8/29 Kimchee, Green Chef Kitty Leatham, Farmer’s at the Firehouse.

9/13 Tomatoes, Chef TBA, Grow Pittsburgh’s Braddock Community Garden.

9/24 Kraut, Chef Wallace from Lidia’s, Farmer’s at the Firehouse.
